Job Overview
• This compliance director will work on the national UnitedHealthcare Financial, Data and Governance Team to support compliance programs for the financial, licensing, filing, intercompany, data use (machine learning/artificial intelligence), and governance areas
• Positions in this function monitor changes to laws and regulations to ensure compliance with state & federal laws, regulations and mandates
• Establish and implement standard policies, procedures, processes and best practices across UHG to promote compliance and audit-defensibility and mitigate business risk
• Conduct federal and state-specific legal research and monitor changes to applicable law
• Support the collection of data for regulatory filings, coordinate and develop processes, reports, projects, assessment tools ensure effective compliance oversight

Primary Responsibilities:
• Understanding of state based government health care programs and products, regulations and business products and initiatives
• Knowledge of data privacy, governance, licensing, filing and financial regulations that govern HMOs and other regulated entities (e.g., TPAs)
• Engage in complex remediation strategy & resolution and promote compliance with applicable laws and contractual obligations for various products
• Ability to flex by working across different markets with varying needs and expectations, as well as across national compliance teams and various compliance program focus areas
• Evaluate compliance program functions and offer recommendations to build compliance program infrastructure and ongoing monitoring processes
• Conduct research (in collaboration with other regulatory affairs and legal teams) to identify applicable regulatory requirements that pertain to product offerings, licenses, use of data, financial reporting requirements, et al
• Partner with legal, compliance, finance and program integrity personnel to support national and market program initiatives and build compliance processes and standards based on business drivers and strategic goals
• Collaborate with other legal, regulatory affairs, and compliance professionals cross-functionally to ensure elements of the compliance program are executed and that regulatory requirements are met
• Evaluate identified compliance issues, including oversight, financial reporting, licensure, filing, corrective action and mitigation requirements
• This role requires an ability to develop relationships, analyze information, recommend process improvements and influence multiple stakeholders to increase engagement and get the needed results. You will be working in a matrixed environment with multiple groups while ensuring that resources are used effectively to mitigate risks and achieve compliance

Required Qualifications:
• Degree or equivalent experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 3+ years of experience managing aspects of a compliance program or working in a legal or regulatory position
• 3+ years of experience working in a government, legal, healthcare, managed care and/or health insurance environment in a regulatory, privacy or compliance role
• Experience managing teams, major program initiatives or working with regulatory
• agencies

The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $97,300 to $176,900.
