In your Assistant General Counsel (AGC) Marketing and Advertising role, you’ll help us deliver better care to billions of people around the world.

Kimberly-Clark seeks to hire an experienced and strategic attorney for the position of AGC, Marketing & Advertising, advising on a broad range of primarily domestic marketing and advertising matters.

In your role as AGC, Marketing & Advertising, you will work in close collaboration with members of Kimberly-Clark’s Legal, R&D, Strategy, Marketing, Regulatory, Personal Care, Family Care, and Customer Development teams.

Additional duties may be assigned across a wide range of strategic, operational, and legal issues in support of the company’s Personal Care and Family Care businesses.

In this role you will report to the Vice President and General Counsel, Kimberly-Clark North America.

Location : Chicago Commercial Center in Chicago, IL (Fulton Market District). All candidates must be based in the Chicagoland area.

Responsibilities :
• Provide counsel to business on all aspects of advertising law, consumer protection, and claim substantiation.
• Maintain an understanding of the organization’s marketing strategies, proactive awareness of relevant applicable laws and regulations, and applicable internal policies and procedures.
• Utilize strong business acumen and legal expertise to proactively identify, analyze, and navigate potential advertising and marketing compliance and legal issues;

and counsel business clients and stakeholders on any risks related to advertising campaigns and strategies in a competitive marketplace.
• Work with and supervise advertising paralegals to counsel business clients on marketing and advertising issues.
• Assist R&D and Marketing teams to develop sound claim substantiation protocols and methodologies.
• Assess and manage issues related to competitive advertising disputes and supervise outside counsel in National Advertising Division (NAD) challenges.
• Monitor developments at the Federal Trade Commission relevant to the advertising and marketing of Kimberly-Clark products, including, among other issues, claim substantiation, endorsements and testimonials, social governance, and environmental claims.
• Take a leadership role in developing and maintaining knowledge resources related to advertising and claim substantiation.
• Collaborate, as needed, with team members in intellectual property, litigation, government relations, and outside of the U.

S., to address issues bearing on the advertising and marketing of Kimberly-Clark products.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications :
• Juris Doctor from a quality law school with excellent academic achievement.
• 5+ years of legal experience with marketing and advertising matters gained at a law firm or an in-house setting after gaining initial experience in a law firm.
• Member in good standing of a state bar with the ability to be admitted as in-house counsel in Illinois.
• Strong marketing and advertising legal background, including some mix of claims development, advertising issues, privacy, and dispute resolution.
• Experience in the consumer packaged goods, consumer retail, e-commerce, cosmetics, medical device, and / or manufacturing industries, preferred.
• Proven ability to work with lawyer and non-lawyer business executives and independently provide entrepreneurial, pragmatic, and business-oriented advice.
• Experience simplifying complex issues, explaining them in business terms, and building consensus around key strategies.
• Familiarity managing expenses and budgets, preferred.
