AECOM is seeking a Tax Manager to oversee all local country tax matters in the Latin America region. This position will offer flexibility for hybrid work schedules with an expectation to go into an AECOM office periodically, with a preference to be based in one of the following locations: Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; Austin, TX; Miami, FL; Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC.
• Manage all local country tax matters in the LATAM region (mainly Brazil and Mexico), including corporate income tax and indirect tax matters (ie VAT, e-invoicing, etc) and other taxes (ie withholding taxes, etc) for our Latin American business operations;
• Provide technical analysis in regard to the tax implications of existing and new markets across Latin America;
• Work with the operations team, legal, country controllers and other stakeholders;
• Partner with our tech teams to come up with automated solutions to the compliance process and lead implementation if needed;
• Coordinate and manage the use of outside advisors (if needed) to support tax positions;
• Month-end financial reporting activities - including variance analyses, prepare/review specific tax account reconciliations, Lead income tax accounting and reporting under IFRS and US GAAP for LATAM. Including local quarterly and annual tax provision calculations, including deferred income tax calculations and RTPs;
• Review annual income tax returns, monthly returns, and supporting work papers;
• Be current with changes in tax laws that could impact the Company’s operations;
• Management of tax audits & tax controversy in the region, as required;
• Coordinate with local country tax service providers for filing of direct tax returns in Latin America;
• Ensure Latin American countries and new countries in Latin America are compliant with all local country tax requirements, and oversee local country tax compliance;
• Communicate and coordinate with other business groups regarding tax impacts of new business launches and strategies in Latin America;
• Examine, analyze, and interpret financial and tax records, including in Spanish or Portuguese, and international tax policy developments in the area of direct and indirect taxation in LATAM countries
• Assist with Oracle conversions, as needed;
• Indirect Tax for LATAM:
• VAT Returns (Review and possible approval)
• Tax code initiations and working with Tax Technology to ensure Indirect Tax law changes are maintained and approved
• Give indirect tax guidance to LATAM finance teams as needed
• VAT Registration setup (ex: Costa Rica)
• Contract Reviews support for Indirect Tax (incl ICA) – legal research

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field + 8 years of combined tax experience in public accounting or a large multinational company with a corporate tax department or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• CPA certification or foreign equivalent.
• Experience with tax rules in Latin American countries.
• Proficiency in English, Portuguese and/or Spanish (both spoken and written)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Knowledgeable in the areas of LATAM business practices and tax complexities
• Exposure to a large ERP systems, in particular Oracle, BlackLine and Hyperion/FCCS would be advantageous;
• Advanced skills in Excel functions (pivot tables, macros, filters, etc.)
• Good understanding of accounting and tax principles; prior tax return preparation experience a plus;
• Highly motivated with ability to function well in a fast-paced environment;
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills;
• Strong attention to detail with an ability to deliver accurate documentation and task completion.
