Job Description

As part of Conagra’s Legal & Gov’t Affairs function, you will focus on trademarks, licensing, patents, and marketing. You will work with the in-house Intellectual Property and Marketing support team to help manage Conagra’s global trademark portfolio and support designated marketing review activities. You will also aid in the management of inbound and outbound licenses, and support maintenance of the patent portfolio. 5+ years of experience.

Position Responsibilities
• You will prepare and file domestic trademark applications, statements of use, extensions of time, amendments to allege use, Sections 8 & 15 declarations, and other filings with the USPTO.
• Prepare and coordinate the filing of all international trademark applications with foreign counsel, including gathering evidence from internal stakeholders for the prosecution and maintenance of our global trademark portfolio.
• Report, respond to, and track the progress of all international trademark applications as appropriate.
• Record documents such as assignments, name changes, and lien releases with the USPTO and comprehend chain of title issues and ability to perfect same.
• You will coordinate notarization and legalization of documents.
• Maintain database of existing trademark licenses.
• Report deadlines and filings to outside counsel for docketing, and maintain internal tracking of budget, deadlines, and filings for trademark portfolio.
• Prepare, develop and/or optimize guidance, policies, and training for enterprise in connection with in-house counsel related to use of company’s intellectual property.
• Support maintenance of patent portfolio in collaboration with in-house and outside counsel
• Participate in special projects, including establishing strategies, guidelines, processes, and procedures, to enable the IP and Marketing team to provide best in class service to the enterprise.
• Develop and/or optimize processes for efficient management of IP filings and budget.
• Conduct review of marketing and social media campaign assets in collaboration with the IP and Marketing Team.

Position Qualifications
• Experienced paralegal with a minimum of five (5) years of global trademark prosecution experience in a law firm and/or corporate department.
• Substantial knowledge of US trademark rules and procedures.
• Experience using IP-related docket systems and managing deadlines.
• Prior understanding in the basics of patent law, with an emphasis of facilitation of new filing documentation and maintenance is a plus but not required.
• Prior experience in the food and beverage industry is a plus.
• Familiarity with review of marketing and social media campaign assets is a plus but not required.
• Must communicate effectively with all internal constituents from employees to senior management, and external organizations including potentially government enforcement agencies, non-governmental organizations, trade associations and outside counsel.
