Position Summary:

This is a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Political Science Department with a starting date of August 2023.

Essential Functions of the Position:

Provide in-person instruction at the college level in Political Science, Public law, Political Theoryand related courses.
Challenge students within the curriculum through interactive lectures, group projects, tests, quizzes and/or independent studies.
Mentor first generation and underrepresented college students (i.e. involving undergraduates in faculty-directed research and/or mentoring undergraduate students on independent research).
Contribute to a collegial and collaborative work environment.
Utilize Canvas to house course materials, grades, attendance and any other relevant information.
Maintain a 12-credit teaching load in the fall and spring semesters.
Summer teaching opportunities may be available.
Maintain an active portfolio of academic advisees.
Meet with students once a term for academic advising and class registration.

Requirements:

Required Skills and Abilities:

Evidence of a program of high-quality research in the area of Political Science, Public Law, or Political Theory.
Experience in service at the departmental, college, and professional level.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Able to function independently while operating effectively within a team environment.
Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents.

Experience & Education:

Completion of Ph.D. by August 2023 is preferred but an advanced ABD candidate will be considered.

Physical requirements:

Primarily sedentary work in an office setting with occasional standing and walking.
Use of office equipment including computers, printers, copiers with lifting of less than 20lb occasionally to fill machines or move files.
