Summary of the Position :
We are seeking an Associate Employment & Litigation Counsel. The ideal candidate will be an attorney with 3-5 years of experience with a background in employment law and litigation or dispute resolution. The position will report to our Director, Litigation & Employment.
This job is based in Gaithersburg, Maryland and offers a hybrid work arrangement.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
• Provide guidance on employment matters involving both federal and local laws that relate to all aspects of the employee life cycle, including hiring practices, performance management, employee relations, accommodation and leave issues, and terminations
• Monitor and identify new employment laws and regulations that impact the company and provide training to colleagues in human resources and throughout the business
• Review and draft key employment-related documents and policies
• Assist with litigation and dispute resolution matters (substantive areas may include commercial business disputes, products liability, securities, and employment) and report on key developments to management
• Work closely with outside counsel and the business to develop risk mitigation, defense and resolution strategies
• Work with colleagues to manage responses to inquiries, discovery requests and other aspects of litigation and government investigations, including workflow and resource allocation
Minimum Qualifications :
• Juris Doctorate from accredited U.S. law school and member in good standing of bar in at least one state
• Three or more years of relevant experience in employment law; familiarity with federal and state laws
• Law firm experience is preferred but not required
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tight deadlines in a fast-paced business environment
• Ability to provide practical, timely, and risk-appropriate legal counsel to a wide variety of internal clients and interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
