Job Description
• Meet with practice group leaders and partners to identify and track business development opportunities with new and current clients
• Manage RFP/proposal responses for the IP Group and prepare customized pitch documents and presentation materials.
• Proactively assisting in developing business development plans in conjunction with IP Group partners, practice group chairs, and the senior BDM.
• Coach partners and senior associates in profile-raising and business development strategies
• Monitor and report on industry trends and issues impacting key clients and practice-specific developments that offer new opportunities in the form of pitches, alerts, webinars, and events.
• Partnering with Research and Information Services and Finance on business development-related client research and litigation monitoring for opportunities to pitch IP work to current firm clients.
• Research and evaluate referral sources, sponsorship opportunities, and speaking engagements to help raise the profile of the IP Group.
• Preparing directory submissions for Chambers, Legal 500, etc.
• Maintain appropriate website content, including regular edits to attorney bios, and updating representative matters lists.
• Work with the Events team on virtual and in-person IP-related events, including strategic targeting and tracking and reporting ROI.

The Successful Applicant
• Degree level educated
• 8 to 10 years of business development and marketing experience, preferably with law firm experience
• Excellent writer and editor capable of generating first drafts that require minimal revision
• Excellent market segmentation, targeting, positioning, and business development planning skills
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and team-building skills
• Superior project management skills
• Strong communicator - persuasive speaker
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with legal databases and software solutions
