Responsible for health, safety and environmental (HSE) compliance at Thales site. This will include assessment and implementation of absent programs and the continued oversight and administration of existing HSE programs. This position will interface with all departments to ensure existing processes and special projects comply with all Federal, State, Local and corporate regulations. The HSE coordinator implements and maintains an environmental health and safety program involving hazard identification evaluation and control, accident/injury prevention, hazardous material/waste management, emergency preparedness, fire/life safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and deploying best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
• Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
• Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
• Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
• Monitor compliance with policies and laws by reviewing employee workplace activities and operations.
• Inspect equipment and machinery to identify and rectify possible unsafe conditions.
• Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and investigate workplace injuries.
• Coordinate the Safety Committee meetings.
• Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
• Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
• Provide ongoing coaching to employees to maintain and improve the HSE Management System.
• Liaison with customer’s auditors and ensuring the execution of internal corrective actions, customer complaint responses and supplier corrective actions.
• Identify, monitor, and execute HSE trainings.
• Promote understanding and compliance to ISO14001.
• Implement ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 certifications.
• Conducts HSE audits both internal and external
• Ensures all HSE processes and procedures are implemented and standardized across manufacturing facility.
• Manage / report company’s KPI for HSE metrics and use the data to identify and to reduce risk.
• Works closely with Engineering and Facilities on special projects involving plant construction, equipment design, and hazardous assessments.
• Assists in all aspects of incident investigation including verifying root cause and approving the implementation of preventative actions.
• Coordinate the 6S program, shop floor security on site, support the sustainability of Lean principal on shop floor through period audits, and participate in meeting.
• Maintains Chemical Hazardous waste program including chemical accumulation and accumulation area inspections.

Minimum Requirements:
• English (oral and written communication skills)
• Minimum 3 years prior experience in an HSE role.
• Internal Auditor experience.
• Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
• Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and environmental regulations
• Technical knowledge experience with HSE Management systems such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001
• Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and presentation skills
• Strong understanding of Root Cause Analysis tools (RCA)

Preferred Skills:
• Demonstrated experience working with Auditors
• Certified Safety Professional designation (preferred)
• ISO 45001 Lead Auditor
• ISO 14001 Lead Auditor
• OSHA 40 or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in EHS, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene or related field or equivalent.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership and technical skills
• Strong attention to detail and observation ability
• Management by influence skills

Special Requirements:
• Schedule: Administrative time (8h/day) starting anytime from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. but with flexibility for occasional appearance in shift times for team support/communication.
• Physical Environment: Manufacturing environment.
• Travel: Availability to occasional domestic and/or oversea trips for Customers, Supplier or internal events.
