Position Description:
The CGI Federal legal team aims to work collaboratively with our business clients to help the Company achieve its business objectives while complying with the wide array of laws and regulations affecting our global business. CGI Federal holds contracts with virtually every federal civilian, defense, and intelligence agency and plays a major role in key federal initiatives such as financial management, health care reform, cloud computing, cyber-security, and many others. Responsibilities:
CGI Federal seeks a seasoned government contracts attorney with significant law firm and in-house (either with a company or government) business or legal experience in the federal government contracts sector. This Senior Counsel position will report to CGI Federal's Vice President & General Counsel and advise CGI Federal's various business units on a broad range of government contracts matters in a fast-paced and collegial atmosphere. The Senior Counsel will support business unit operations by:
providing legal advice on and negotiating a variety of business agreements; preparing company responses to government claims, audits and investigations; advising on and managing bid protests and litigation (with the assistance of outside counsel); preparing government contract requests for equitable adjustment and claims; and conducting internal investigations. The Senior Counsel also should have experience in or exposure to:
(1) resolving cost accounting standards and pricing issues and supporting DCAA/DCMA/GSA audits; (2) commercial items sales under GSA Schedules and GWACs; (3) organizational conflict of interest restrictions; and (4) mergers and acquisition transactions. Finally, the Senior Counsel will support CGI Federal's compliance program by preparing and conducting training on various government contracts topics. Strong emphasis is placed on the candidate with a hands-on style who seeks to handle most legal issues in-house in collaboration with fellow attorneys as well as contracts and compliance professionals. Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
The successful candidate should have a minimum of seven years of substantive government contracts experience as an attorney at a law firm and/or in-house counsel at a federal government contractor or agency. While in-house experience is highly-desired, prior law firm experience is required. The successful candidate also should have a demonstrated ability to integrate successfully with and provide strategic counsel to business operations and extensive experience counseling on cradle-to-grave government procurement issues. Finally, the successful candidate must qualify as Virginia Corporate Counsel and have excellent references. In short, CGI Federal seeks a team player with a good bedside manner, a pragmatic and flexible negotiations style, and the ability to represent the Company and complete transactions with minimal oversight in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment where issues of first impression often arise. As a Federal Contractor, all members of CGI Federal, regardless of role or work location are required to be fully vaccinated effective January 18th 2022 under the current policy, and be willing to provide proof of status, with the exception of those with approved medical or religious accommodations.
Salary Range:
$200K -- $250K
Minimum Qualification
Legal & RegulatoryEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
