Position Summary

Marriott's Law Department services the Company's lodging and hospitality business and provides legal advice and counsel to Marriott's internal clients.

The Vice President, Legal Technology, Records and eDiscovery is a critical role in the law department charged to (1) Lead the transformation of the Law Department's technology platform in order to support the legal services delivered by the Department, (2) Partner with attorneys, Senior Law Leadership, and the corporate IT discipline leadership to create, oversee, and support the development and implementation of Legal technology strategies and solutions and (3) Oversee the Senior Director, eDiscovery & Records Management on special technology projects and to help drive eDiscovery efforts and Law Department Records work.

The Vice President, Legal Technology, Records, and eDiscovery will oversee a team of IT professionals providing guidance and assistance to ensure IT projects are long term focused, within budget and meeting stakeholder expectations. This position will support the oversight of the technology team's budget and track meaningful technology metrics. This position reports to the Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel, will supervise a team of Technology, eDiscovery and Records professionals and will have dotted line oversight of the Law Department Accounting teams. Specific Expected Contributions

This position will provide leadership in several areas related to the Technology Transformation of the Law Department, to include:
• Strategy And Tools
: This position will provide strategic oversight of the legal technology function, with a specific focus on identifying and evaluating technology and AI solutions for the Law Department, and collaborate with other corporate functions evaluating and implementing technology solutions for the business. This includes,
• Take the lead, partnering with the various legal disciplines, to ensure efficiencies related to the transaction process (i.e., HOTDOCs, iManage, Team Connect).
• Direct operational investments for Legal technological systems in partnership with Business and iT Leaders. Identify risks, help troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate issues to the SVP, Associate General Counsel and Law senior leadership, when necessary.
• Continually ensure technology for the Law Department is up to date and recommend future solutions (in coordination with budget approvals) to ensure that tools implemented are utilized in the most effective manner.
• Identify opportunities across the Law department for process automation leading the identification, selection, and implementation of solutions. This includes leading change management planning/execution and communications to Law Department leadership, associates, and impacted Law Department clients.
• Systems And Processes
This position will provide strategic oversight for the deployment of Law technology tools globally and ensure that the tools function seamlessly on a global basis, serving as the liaison between appropriate functions within HQ and the Continents. Position will also reconcile and track all Legal technology purchases and will drive the development and enhancement of the Law department's accounting technology.
• Technology Support
Oversee the team providing hardware and software technical support to the Law Department, Global Communications & Public Affairs, and Lodging Development Departments. This includes tier 1 support, initial contact and basic troubleshooting, and tier 2 level support, more complex troubleshooting in partnership with the Corporate IT discipline.
• Metrics
Report on progress/performance of all Legal IT projects including budget, timeline, resources, deliverables, scope, training, change management, and risk. Manage technology budget and partner with the Law Department VP of Finance to report out on budget spend and projections. Develop and produce the appropriate technology metrics as a means for constant improvements in delivery speed, quality, and cost.
• Partnerships
This position is the primary liaison with corporate iT, Security, and compliance/privacy to ensure projects meet company and regulatory standards. This position will provide ongoing advice and guidance for the Law Department, Business Function leaders, and other affected stakeholders concerning systems and technology issues.
In addition, this position will:
• Manage the technical integration of outside counsel and outside vendor technology with that of the Law Department, including:
• Oversight of additional networks on the Marriott network, the system change process, testing, training of outside counsel/vendors, and the deployment of those networks to production.
• Change management process to implement modifications or enhancements that are made to either network that would impact processing.
• E Discovery And Records
Provide oversight and direction to the Senior Director, eDiscovery & Records to help drive the processes for the Enterprise-Wide Electronic Discovery and Law Department Records Management work. Identify, design, and oversee the implementation of process automation and digitization enhancements to the Records and eDiscovery processes.
• Effective Team Management
: Enhance the Legal Technology, Records, and eDiscovery's capabilities through effective staffing and development of others by anticipating staffing requirements and comparing business needs with strengths and weaknesses of existing staff. Coaches own team to collaborate with others. Provide timely and effective coaching and performance feedback; recognizing and rewarding distinctions in performance; and engaging in progressive disciplinary processes, when appropriate.Candidate Profile
: Successful candidates should possess the experience, knowledge, and skills as follows:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field required. Masters' Degree and/or Project Management Professional Certification a plus.
• 12+ years of information technology experience that includes providing technical and strategic leadership. Experience with legal technology and/or within a high-quality law firm and/or in-house experience is preferred.

Additional Skills necessary for the role include:
• In-depth understanding of the network environment and its hardware/software components. Experience identifying and implementing legal technologies to meet business needs and objectives. Proven technical capability/experience working within an IT environment supporting applications and application development/optimization.
• Experience with mapping and implementing process automation.
• Experience in strategic planning, risk management, leading cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders, and project change management – Demonstrated ability using project management techniques and tools.
• General understanding of budget process and managing budgets.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and engage all levels of the organization including senior management, technical and non-technical members.
