Job Description

MRC Global is seeking a new Litigation / Disputes Paralegal who will also serve to support ESG reporting. This paralegal position is responsible for managing and tracking all lawsuits and pre-litigation disputes with attorney supervision (including customized quarterly reporting), maintain the matter management system, manage legal hold process, liaise with outside counsel, insurers and internal business clients, assist with factual investigation and document collection for both discovery and internal business clients’ requests for advice, assist with responses to third party subpoenas, and prepare draft proof of claims for customer bankruptcies.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain matter management system with all litigation and pre-litigation matters, including opening new matters, regular updates, deadline calendaring, budget tracking, quarterly status reports, filing, and following litigation process through life of matter
  • Manage legal hold order (“LHO”) process, including collecting information for and preparing LHOs, custodian interviews, tracking and collecting documents from custodians, and managing custodian terminations to ensure document preservation
  • Assist with factual investigation and litigation discovery, including interviewing fact witnesses, collecting documents, coordinating with internal business clients and external lawyers in responding to discovery requests, and deposition preparation and scheduling of witnesses

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Paralegal certificate

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of legal experience, preferably in a law firm and a corporate legal department (if B.A., minimum level of experience is 5 years)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) and case management and document database software

  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently under the pressure of deadlines
