Zurich North America is currently hiring a Latent Environmental Claims Paralegal to join their team! Under the supervision of a Latent & Environmental AVP, the successful candidate's work will be in support of Claim Professionals handling moderate to complex Mass Litigation and Pollution claims. The candidate selected for this opportunity should be able to report into the following North American Claims office: Schaumburg, IL

In this role you will be responsible for:
• Providing paralegal support to Latent & Environmental Claims personnel
• Reviewing complaints, legal pleadings, correspondence, and other documents as directed
• Managing the triage process of new losses for the group
• Assisting in financial transactions including making payments, payment spreads, payment reconciliation
• Tracking of suit and plaintiff data
• Performing forensic auditing/accounting
• Providing legal support such as legal and documentary research
• Monitoring case schedules and filing deadlines
• Conducting training of paralegal services to new employees in the group
• Organizing and maintaining case files and documentation, electronically
• Contributing to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed

Basic Qualifications:
• Associates Degree in Law or Paralegal Studies and 4 or more years of experience in the Legal Support area.

OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Law or Paralegal Studies and 4 or more years of experience in the Legal Support area

AND
• Experience conducting electronic database research
• Experience drafting legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree
• Defense experience
• Latent environmental claims experience
• Ability to effectively conduct electronic database research, including Lexus Nexis
• Microsoft 365 Office, strong computer skills in Windows 10
• Comfortable working in a paperless work environment
• Strong communication & writing skills.
• Be able to work independently
• Ask questions, have an inquisitive mind, natural curiosity
• Comfortable working in a remote & an office environment.
• CORE Registered Paralegal (CRP)
• PACE Registered Paralegal (PRP)
• Certified Paralegal (CP)
• Certified Legal Assistant (CLA)
• Professional Paralegal (PP)
