The Role

Reporting to the VP Tax for Trane Technologies, The Director, Global Tax Compliance will be responsible for managing the Companys US and global income and non-income tax compliance and will lead the preparation, review and timely filing of all corporate income and non-income tax returns. This key role will collaborate with other Tax and Finance leaders in developing, assessing, and implementing tax (income, non-income, and indirect) strategies that are aligned with the Company's business model.

A successful candidate will also be responsible for tracking regulatory and tax law changes and proactively addressing the impact of these changes to the Company's compliance function. The position is in the US headquarters located in Davidson, NC.

Principal Responsibilities

Develop and lead implementation of the global tax compliance strategy and ensure compliance with applicable local country income tax rules and regulations.

Proactively develop strategies to ensure tax compliance efficiency and stay current on tax law changes that may impact the Company.

Responsible for leading the US income tax and US and global indirect tax compliance teams to ensure that accurate and complete tax returns are filed, including the US federal consolidated return, US state & local income tax returns, US sales & use tax returns and VAT returns in the EMEA region and the state income tax audit process with the goal of negotiating favorable outcomes for the Company from a cash and earnings perspective.

Collaborate and provide guidance to determine and value uncertain tax positions as defined in ASC 740.

Manage the relationship with external auditors to ensure sufficiency and accuracy of tax information in the financial statements and represent the reporting and transaction positions taken by the Tax Department in the Company's financial statements.

Coordinate and manage the global compliance engagement for the preparation and filing of non-U.S. income tax returns by external service providers.

Identify, develop, and execute opportunities for high-value projects including engaging and leading external 3rd-party consultants.

Develop and maintain improvements to the Company's control framework related to global compliance infrastructure to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Lead, motivate and develop highly skilled employees with unique skillsets at various stages of their careers.

Develop and foster strong working relationships with finance leadership and other key stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting. Master's Degree in Taxation, CPA or MBA preferred.

15+ years of experience in progressively responsible positions in a corporate tax department, public accounting firm, or comparable experience. Fortune 500 corporate tax experience or international CPA firm experience preferred. 7+ years of supervisory and/or management experience with a track record of motivating and developing talent.

Expertise in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 740, Income Taxes. Technical proficiency in taxation of the domestic and foreign operations of a US multinational corporation.

Experience with HFM and CORPTax.

Self-starter able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to work and influence cross- functionally in Finance, along with external advisors and consultants.

Familiarity with ETL tools and visualizations for management reporting.

Effective communicator of complex and controversial concepts to a broad audience.

Excellent project management and business partnering skills and the demonstrated ability to successfully lead teams.

Requirements / Qualifications
