Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) is seeking a Senior Counsel to join BMS' cell therapy research and development center in Seattle, WA. The attorney will support clients across multiple functional areas to build and leverage BMS' intellectual property interests, with a focus on cell and gene therapy products. Responsibilities include providing strategic counsel on all facets of intellectual property law, including procurement, enforcement, freedom to operate, and business development, as well as legal counsel to the Research & Early Development organization. The attorney will work closely with clients in various functions in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment and will collaborate with other in-house and outside attorneys to accomplish BMS objectives.

The ideal candidate possesses the following qualifications:
• J.D. degree or equivalent and admission to at least one State bar.
• 8 or more years of patent experience in the biotechnology field, preferably at least 3 years of which has been with a law firm.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO and eligible to practice in Washington or obtain a limited license for in-house counsel.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the biological and/or chemical sciences. An advanced degree and/or scientific research experience in the biological sciences is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
• Service-oriented focus with ability to work as part of cross-functional teams and drive results.
• Highest integrity, excellent judgment and the ability to proactively recognize and effectively assess business risk and communicate legal issues to patent, legal and general management.
