That’s why we’re looking for a Trademark Docketing Manager to manage operations and workflow of assigned Trademark Docketing staff to ensure reliable and efficient service that meets the needs of our Legal Staff and firm clients. This position has flexibility to work remotely 100% of the time.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for...
• Serving as a first level response to questions and issues from the Trademark Docketing staff members and Legal Staff.
• Managing daily workflow of the Trademark Docketing team and quality control of day-to-day docketing functions.
• Partnering with the Trademark Practice Group Leadership, the Patent Docketing Manager, the IP Systems Administrator, and the Director of IP Administration to develop and enforce best practices and process improvements to ensure high-level service is consistently provided and risk management is achieved.
• Supporting development and implementation of optimal support structures to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of department; evaluate staffing requirements and make recommendations regarding staffing needs.
• Ensuring appropriate records are maintained for Trademark Docketing Department activity, and in compliance with the firm's requirements for liability purposes.
• Managing client transitions, including completing case imports and exports and ensuring files are properly reviewed to ensure accurate and timely input of matter information into docketing database.
• Working collaboratively with the IP Systems Administrator on the following:
• Monitoring performance and maintenance of software specific to the docketing function for workflow purposes
• Confirming controls are always in place to ensure accuracy and integrity of data
• Identifying problem areas, and assisting with troubleshooting issues/problems; assisting in implementing new controls as needed
• Identifying training opportunities and train staff on use of software and communicating any changes in software to appropriate firm personnel

The ideal candidate will demonstrate…
• A Bachelor’s degree in related field or education/experience equivalent required.
• A minimum 7+ years of progressive IP Docketing experience, with concentrated focus in Trademark Prosecution.
• Prior supervisory experience including hiring, employee development, training, evaluations, performance management, and compensation management.
• Thorough understanding of IP docketing systems, including appropriate system policies, procedures, and controls & US Trademark rules.
• Ability to monitor and maintain an IP docketing system; develop Trademark docketing reference materials and generate reports.
• Ability a work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands and work under tight deadlines.
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of responsibilities and the aptitude for effective and creative problem solving.
• High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations with poise, tact, and diplomacy.
• Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, legislative and USPTO rulings impacting practice procedures. Strong change management leadership.
• Experience with Inprotech preferred.

Pay Range for Candidates in New York City:

$119,000 - $155,000

The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location.
