Summary of Position Duties

Responsibilities include air permitting activities, compliance and regulatory reporting activities, and developing and performing facility and program reviews and audits. Additional responsibilities may include support of sustainability reporting and initiatives, commenting on and informing rulemaking, developing, communicating and implementing air related environmental guidelines, and developing compliance strategies for company facilities. The position is responsible for managing communications between the Company and regulatory agencies, external groups, and the public.

This position may be filled as an analyst/specialist or an engineer depending on educational background, experience, and qualifications. The position is located in Atlanta, GA.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Manage air permit program compliance and federal reporting requirements, including activities such as Title V or PSD permitting, emission inventory preparation, Acid Rain Program and Cross State Air Pollution Rule reporting, and Toxics Release Inventory reporting. Provide specific guidance to power plants for compliance with air permit and other air regulatory requirements.
• Support Generation, Transmission, Distribution and other business units with compliance assurance processes at company facilities. Develop cost effective compliance strategies and programs for applicable regulations, including developing environmental guidelines, company communications, and training.
• Support sustainability-related activities, which may include scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions accounting and preparation or review of CDP and other sustainability reporting and metrics.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory air quality and climate activities that impact company operations. Work with regulatory agencies to promote informed, balanced and science-based regulations and permit requirements.

Education Requirements
• BS degree in engineering or a science related field preferred (i.e. biology, chemistry, environmental science, etc.).

Experience Requirements
• A minimum of 2-10 years of air quality experience is preferred, including one or more of the following areas: environmental permitting and reporting, sustainability reporting and metrics, emissions allowances or carbon offsets, regulatory interpretation, interaction with state or federal regulators, emissions monitoring (CEMS), and design, operation, and maintenance of emission control technology.
• Knowledge of and experience with the electric sector and/or operations, maintenance, and engineering for power generation is preferred.

• Ability to analyze and resolve regulatory and compliance issues and implement solutions.
