Job Description
Job DescriptionLooking for a full-time legal assistant/paralegal to assist in a small practice. The firm will grow, but the current responsibilities include a rance of tasks.
Paralegal Certificate or Bachelors degree is preferred. 2+ years of previous legal office experience or 4+ years of office management is required and previous administrative/office experience is necessary.
Hours are 8:30 am to 5:30, M - F.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate experience in the following areas:
• Familiarity with Colorado civil court system.
• Drafting and answering discovery responses and preparing form pleading documents.
• Meeting with clients to facilitate information gathering, scheduling and court dates.
• Calendaring. Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and diary functions, along with task creation and management.
• Candidate must be competent and familiar with advanced functions in Microsoft Word and Excel and will need to learn firm specific software.
• Document and exhibit preparation with Adobe software, including Bates numbering, combining and deleting pages, redaction and highlighting.
• Email processing both incoming and outgoing, including all copying and sorting.
• E-Filing processing both received and filed, calendaring, follow up and sorting.
• Scheduling, coordinating and confirming court reporters, mediators, experts, and interpreters.
• Entry of efiling expenses into system and acceptance of client payments.
• Assisting with IT issues, including computers and telephones.
• Timekeeping and hourly billing.
• Monitoring supplies and inform office manager if needed items.
• Ability to organize, index and summarize financial information and discovery documents.
• Answering telephone calls and directing the calls appropriately.
• Screening and scheduling consultations, sending consultations intake sheet and collect fee.
• Setting up client files and maintain the same electronically. Close client files through established process.
• Sweeping and taking out the trash, as needed.
• Preferred applicants will have the capacity to self-start with a "total case" mentality as opposed to "task-based."
Salary based on experience and ability, but ranges from $19 to $25 an hour. Position includes eligibility for a retirement plan, paid time off, and health insurance.
