Job Description

The Intellectual Property Paralegal will provide high level legal support to the IP team (trademark focused). Must be innovative, comfortable with technology, have a growth mindset and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Support the trademark legal team by helping it to manage record-keeping in connection with its global portfolio of trademarks, and by supporting a variety of department processes and functions, which may include the following:
• Assist with reviewing, executing, and maintaining department Powers of Attorney
• Assist department attorneys with a wide variety of IP related agreements. Prepare consent letters for attorney and business review and signature. Provide trademark agreement redlines and prepare associated trademark schedules. Maintain IP agreement templates.
• Create new records on, or make updates to, internal trademark database.
• Generate reports from the internal trademark database in response to department requests and as part of maintaining the company global trademark portfolio.
• Manage requests from and interact regularly with Citi businesses and department attorneys regarding a wide variety of IP matters.
• Communicate with internal business partners to collect information and instructions related to trademark searches and filings. May conduct in-house trademark screening searches. Research and gather evidence of trademark use for trademark prosecution and maintenance.
• Review mobile applications, websites, advertisements and marketing collateral for proper trademark use, trademark and copyright notices, and general IP related issues.
• Support trademark and copyright enforcement matters. Conduct web-based and other research investigations into third parties, problematic third-party marks or infringing uses of IP for investigation purposes. Assist attorneys with collecting and sending evidence, including the preparation and drafting of Affidavits. Review settlement, undertaking, and co-existence agreements and decisions received in IP proceedings and update docket accordingly.
• Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years of IP paralegal experience; some in-house corporate experience preferred
• Knowledge and experience with marketing content review, the trademark life cycle, and agreements
• Knowledge and experience with trademark searching, due diligence, trademark prosecution, trademark watching and trademark enforcement matters is a plus
• Database management and entry experience. Experience with IP docketing is a plus
• Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Strong organizational skills; ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and manage deadlines
• Detail-oriented with analytical and critical thinking skills, proactive, effective at multi-tasking, and able to work well under pressure and to work independently as well as collaboratively
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
