JOB SUMMARY

Directs and coordinates section services, development, procedures and personnel for the Division of Criminal Justice Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Social Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Public Administration, or other closely related field, plus six (6) years of related experience, of which two (2) years must have been supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Education may not be substituted for the required supervisory experience.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check and subsequent mandatory background checks in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Provides administrative leadership by evaluating current resources to resolve problems and improve public service.
• Create and guide innovative program services using evidence-based practices.
• Lead strategic planning efforts for Section to support Division strategic direction, including monitoring plans, goals, and objectives.
• Acts as an administrative liaison with referring judges to meet the unique needs of each court. Prepares presentations and acts as an informational resource for, and meets directly with, referring judges, court administrators, prosecutors, and defense attorneys.
• Supervises staff which includes hiring, orienting, training, assigning and reviewing work performance, annual work performance appraisal, and discipline.
• Reviews and analyzes services and fidelity of evidence based practices to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws.
• Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates contracts, including developing and processing Requests for Bids and by monitoring and analyzing quality of services to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
• Represents the Section to coordinate program plans with State and local officials, criminal justice agencies, treatment agencies, and other agencies providing services to clients.
• Reconciles program stakeholder and client complaints and responds to politically sensitive issues with guidance from superiors.
• Represents Associate Director or Director in their absence, as assigned.
• Provides periodic staff meetings and regular individual meetings to share information with staff, resolve problems, and provide training.
• Develops program budgets by prioritizing and projecting fiscal needs. Monitors and controls expenditures by reviewing periodic budget reports and making staffing and other expense decisions.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work duties are typically performed in a general office setting; travels to courts, detention centers and various criminal justice agencies.

Occasional evenings and weekends may be necessary. Must be able to travel to various work sites.
