Job Description
Patent Paralegal, experience in Patent Prosecution with experience in:
Coordination and scheduling of tasks between IP Engineers, Patent Attorneys and Patent Agents in the prosecution of patents with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the International Bureau (IB) of the World Intellectual Property Organization
Management and Administration of IP Management Software, specifically FoundationIP
Preparation, proofreading, and management of patent applications, patent forms and formal documents for in-house filing with the USPTO and the IB
Support in-house resources and Outside Counsel in the filing of patent applications, patent forms and formal documents in the United States and foreign jurisdictions
Job Responsibilities
- Work within Power Integrations’ Intellectual Property (IP) Management Database for supporting the filing and prosecution of patent applications
- Receive and docket documents from the USPTO, foreign patent offices, inventors, in-house patent team and Outside Counsel for generating workflow tasks
- Schedule the filing of patent documents in domestic and foreign patent offices, directly with the in-house patent team and with Outside Counsel
- Prepare and proofread patent forms and documents, in particular, forms for the USPTO and the IB
- Execute electronic filings with the USPTO and the IB
- Work with IP engineers, Patent Agents, and Patent Attorneys to keep abreast of all rules, regulations, and procedures for filing patent applications and related documents, in particular with the USPTO and the IB
- Perform legal research and provide administrative guidance for the prosecution of patent applications
- Generate reports on the status of Power Integrations’ US and Foreign patent portfolio
Requirements / Qualifications

American Bar Association Approved Paralegal Certificate or Certified Paralegal

At least 2 years of paralegal experience with a specific emphasis on patent prosecution

At least 5 years of docketing experience with emphasis on US patent prosecution

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat

Proficiency with docketing databases, especially FoundationIP

Strong verbal and written communication skills
