Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:
• Proactively lead a team of legal professionals responsible for providing OptumRx business leaders with effective advice and counsel on regulatory and transactional matters, as well as business strategies, with a focus on OptumRx’s relationships with its supply chain
• Operate in a strategic and pro-active manner to assist our internal business clients in managing their relationships with pharmaceutical and network partners while managing the legal and regulatory risk related to prescription drug programs
• Solid conflict management skills, as well as comfort with ambiguity and uncertainty
• Skills that will be utilized to advise business leaders on potential liability and exposure and resolving disputes related to supply chain relationships, as well as client relationships where supply chain issues are implicated
• Solid organizational agility to effectively navigate cross-functionally across key business and legal stakeholders to help drive business solutions and results
• Function as part of a high performing, collegial team
• As a member of the OptumRx legal team, close collaboration with colleagues is expected, as well as a willingness to adapt to the changing legal support requirements of our growing business
• Provide ongoing education and training on best practices related to relationships with the supply chain
• Participate in occasional business travel to meet with supply chain partners and business teams

Required Qualifications:
• Juris Doctorate degree
• 10+ years legal experience in health care regulatory and transactional practices
• Solid technical and functional skills including transactional negotiation and drafting skills and the applicable regulatory frameworks
• Solid business acumen, prioritize ongoing education in the relevant business practices and trends
• Skilled in reading and understanding individuals and interpersonal agility to support building and maintaining rapport, trust and respect among superiors, peers, subordinates and external company contacts
• Ability to motivate and engage people to excel and work together collaboratively to drive results
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with the pharmaceutical and/or pharmacy benefits management industries
• Solid verbal and written communication skills,presentation creation and delivery skills
• Solid customer service and interpersonal communication skills

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $174,600 to $332,200. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
