We are looking for a highly motivated and resourceful attorney to join Fisker’s expanding Legal team as Real Estate Counsel. The Real Estate Counsel position will provide advice, counsel and lead projects regarding a variety of legal matters, including real estate and leasing transactions, review of contracts and related documents, assisting in preparation and development of budgets, and other issues as they arise. This role will report to the VP, Legal and Commercial Affairs and will provide cross-functional support to Fisker’s senior management as well as the organization at-large. The successful candidate should exhibit strong project management skills, outstanding interpersonal skills, an entrepreneurial and team-first mentality, and a willingness to elevate standards across the organization. Job Responsibilities

  • Represent the company in all aspects of our real estate transactions
  • Counsel, and strategically collaborate with, business partners on all real estate matters
  • Minimize risk while achieving the Company‚Äôs business goals
  • Skillfully draft, review, and negotiate all leases and related legal documentation such as modifications, terminations, and subleases for new and existing facilities
  • Skillfully draft, review, and negotiate vendor contracts such as brokerage, architecture and construction agreements
  • Monitor critical lease deadlines such as termination and renewal options and collaborate with business partners to execute real estate strategy
  • Assist with management and resolution of disputes with landlords including litigation and arbitration when necessary
  • Supervise, train and mentor staff and supervise outside counsel
  • Manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Draft and revise company policies and procedures relating to real estate and leases
  • Assist with and lead other matters and projects as needed and as they arise

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree from ABA-accredited law school.

  • Admitted to California State Bar or eligible to register as in-house counsel.

  • Proven understanding of real estate law

  • Outstanding academic record with at least five years of top-tier law firm or in-house legal experience (public company and automotive experience a plus).

  • Excellent attention to detail, legal research and writing, communication and project management skills.

  • Process oriented, able to multitask, team player and ability to work independently with limited oversight.

  • Good judgment, keen diplomacy, and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Organized, resourceful self-starter with excellent problem-solving capabilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.

  • Strong work ethic, a desire to learn and excel, and a positive attitude.

  • Strong leadership abilities, including management of junior employees

  • Occasional travel may be required domestically or internationally.
