The Associate Director of Business Affairs is part of a cross functional team supporting the group’s efforts in working with brands and celebrities, influencers, properties, sponsorships and everything that comes along with that. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in negotiating commercial endorsement partnerships, and experience with SAG and FTC. They should be familiar with the pop culture landscape and should have an understanding of legal issues relating to content creation, talent, influencers and intellectual property. In addition, the candidate must be able to work effectively in a complex environment with diverse stakeholders including senior management, operations, and legal counsel, brand and agency teams. We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit, and a team player who thrives in fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Translation of brand business objectives and terms into contractual language
  • Draft paperwork and negotiate partnerships from scope of work through to fully executed long form; agreements could be with talent, influencers, properties, parties, branded content with entertainment platforms, etc. and could be for commercial endorsement deals, sponsorships, music licensing etc.
  • Draft and review agency scopes of work
  • Act as a liaison between brand and their legal teams as well as talent/property legal teams
  • Advise clients on best practices associated with legal templates
  • Ability to lead client communications
  • Attend client calls and in-person meetings to align on appropriate legal points
  • Assist in the overall growth of the agency, including new business & networking
  • Maintain established trackers associated with workflow to keep clients’ legal teams up to date

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Passion & strong knowledge for entertainment and the business of entertainment

  • Strong knowledge of Influencers and pop-culture, including celebrities, athletes, musicians, hot platforms & shows, etc.

  • Creative, flexible, and self-motivated, a positive, can-do, roll up your sleeves attitude. A true, team player that enjoys working collaboratively, as well as independently

  • 5+ years of legal/business affairs experience in-house at a media company, ad agency, talent agency or at a law firm including experience procuring talent & influencers for commercial endorsements, spokesperson roles, appearances, performances, music, and other IP licensing as well as sponsorship including occasional music licensing \

  • Experience in the consumer-packaged goods, beauty and healthcare space a plus

  • Experience interacting with brand and agency legal teams to help establish and balance the legal risks and business objectives

  • Strong working knowledge of SAG/AFTRA and FTC regulations

  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills

  • Exceptional written, negotiation and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • J.D. and bachelor’s degree; preferred if degree is in a relevant course of study, e.g., business administration, sports management, integrated marketing communications (marketing, PR, advertising)
