We draw on each other's strengths and allow for different work styles to build engagement and satisfaction to deliver results.Reporting to the Senior Vice President, General Counsel, the Senior Counsel, Labor & Employment is responsible for representing the company and providing legal advice and counsel to internal clients regarding all aspects of U.S. employment law and regulation, including with respect to labor and employment relations, accommodations and other leave related issues, performance management, labor and employment policies, and employment litigation; labor disputes; employee benefits and compensation; providing training to all levels of the organization on employment and labor law matters; ensure federal contractor compliance with OFCCP regulations; EEOC and NLRB matters and charges; diversity and inclusion initiatives; labor and bargaining initiatives and strategies, including significant union negotiations.The incumbent is also responsible for representing the company and advising internal clients in connection with employment-related litigation, regulatory and enforcement proceedings such as with the EEOC, NLRB, and OSHA, and internal investigations.The incumbent will perform legal analysis and provide legal timely, effective, and practical guidance in a fast-paced in-house setting under the direction of the Legal Vice President or General Counsel.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Identifies, analyzes, and assesses legal risks.Provides professional advice, counseling, and oversight to internal clients regarding a subject matter area on a reactive and proactive basis.Works collaboratively with in-house staff attorneys and external counsel, when approved. Engages in routine interaction and privileged communications with functional managers.Assists in setting legal or risk mitigation policies and procedures for a subject matter area. Provides legal training to internal clients on a subject matter area.Provides oversight of outside counsel.Travel: Moderate; less than 20%QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment when entering the floor of manufacturing facilities based on the specific requirements of each location.Education and/or ExperienceJuris Doctor plus Pennsylvania (or other state) Bar.Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree from top tier accredited school5+ years demonstrated experience in subject matter area in a medium to large-sized law firm or in-house legal department.Experience managing others.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Licensed to practice law in at least one state in the United States.If not licensed in Pennsylvania, then willing and able to secure at least an in-house license in Pennsylvania.CompetenciesSee Senior Leader (Grade 15 - 17) competenciesOther Skills and AbilitiesDelivers practical and proactive counseling, training, and support to business units and corporate functions.
