The Role:

The Corporate Paralegal’s role is to provide support to the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, Labor & Employment and the Senior Manager, Legal Department and requires close collaboration with various departments.

This position is based in our Corporate Office headquartered in the Chicago area (Lombard, IL), and will require travel throughout the US based on business need (approx. 20%).
• Identify responsive documents to discovery requests and answer, organize and manage discovery request process.
• Manage settlement agreement compliance and process payments.
• Manage, track and record Litigation Holds and acknowledgements.
• Provide support to General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, Labor & Employment and Senior Manager, Legal Department as assigned.
• Act as legal liaison with outside counsel and other internal departments, track department relevant data, draft written responses or replies by phone or email when necessary.
• Manages legal projects by organizing and expediting tasks, creating, planning, and coordinating presentations, meetings, travel plans, etc., as well as disseminating information quickly and accurately.
• Acts as legal business partner by assisting department staff members with meeting deliverables such as time management/prioritization of daily activities and maintaining focus on business matters/issues.
• Assist Deputy General Counsel, Labor & Employment with rolling out and managing record retention program.
• Create general legal correspondence, memos, charts, tables, graphs, business plans, etc. Proofreads copy for spelling, grammar, and layout, making appropriate changes.
• Basic administrative duties such as expense reports, travel arrangement, meeting planning, etc.
• Other duties as required.

Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
• Paralegal Certificate

Experience:
• Ten or more years of relevant paralegal experience at a law firm or corporate legal department required.
• Contract management and litigation experience.
• Labor and Employment experience and a general understanding of laws pertaining to Labor and Employment matters.
• Solid understanding of corporate governance.
• Project management experience a plus.
• Record Retention experience a plus.

Skills and Knowledge Required:
• Strong MS Office Suite skills
• Highly organized and efficient with excellent attention to detail
• Astute problem solver with a strong ability to follow-up and respond quickly
• Self-starter who can successfully manage multiple deliverables in a timely manner with minimal supervision
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret instructions, policies, and procedures

Travel requirement (as a percent): approximately 20%

• 100% work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities

• This position is in the office full time with some flexibility for remote work.

Requirements / Qualifications
